Don't read this.  The good stuff is below

We need your help!

Get out of that comfortable pew and come work with us.

If you are reading this then our conversation has begun.  Carrollton is a church planting church and our next outpost in the Kingdom will look completely different from either Hollygrove or Carrollton.  It has to.  We are looking for some young people (20's to early 30's) who are on fire Christ and passionate about spreading the border of God's Kingdom.  Come to New Orleans and see what God is doing.

Feel like you want to do more to help the Kingdom grow?  Move to New Orleans and help us not only rebuild the congregation that meets at Carrollton, but also join us as we begin planning and praying about the next place to plant a church. New Orleans is a wide open mission field! And, you don't have to learn a new language or get shots to come here.  Even cooler, you won't need to raise funds for a Land Rover like other missionaries; our streetcars are back in service! $1.25 in exact change and you are on your way.

Are you hip enough to talk to Tulane and Loyola students about God?

General Vocation Ministry yada yada talk

Vocational ministry means different things to different folks.  For some it means one is employed and paid a full wage by a church.  Bi-vocational on the other hand means you have two or more jobs, one of which is part-time with a church.  For our purposes we're going back to Paul's tent making ministry idea.  He had a secular job but used it to support his ministry.  Our use of "vocation" in "vocational ministry" is intended to imply "get a job dude" and let's do some ministry.  Maybe not the best use of the term granted but it serves.

Vocational, bi-vocational, or "tent making" is, essentially, moving to an area to live out your Christian faith and being active in a church (or even planting one) in an area that has a lack of and need for faithful Christians to be there. It's part mission, part ministry, and part just being a Christian.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with moving to a place with an already strong spiritual culture and joining a strong church, but some people feel called to help strengthen an area that's weak in these areas. Vocational ministry is a way to help connect people called to do this work with each other and with areas and churches that have a need.

This page is designed to do just that: help get the word out that New Orleans has a need for some people interested in helping to do God's work. Though the area is facing many challenges, it's still a fun place to live, despite what the news would lead you to believe. There are also plenty of job opportunities here, as well as graduate school opportunities. If moving to New Orleans and serving the One who loved you enough to die for you calls to your heart, contact us. You can email or call us 504-304-9900.

This is one of our ministers demonstrating all three parts of vocational ministry as he works on our baptistry: mission, ministry, and service.   Get out of that comfortable pew and come work with us.
