My friends,
Jenny and I have been praying for all of you since the floods hit. Being graced by God with an understanding wife who was blessed over the years with some of Miss Linda's pralines, shrimp from the Williamsons, and Shannon and Emily's infectious energy, I have set aside my projects for now and devoted myself to Carrollton's needs for the past three weeks. We have, through a partnership with the Southern Hills Church of Christ here in Abilene, been able to raise over $40,000 for Carrollton's members, put together this website to facilitate communication, and begin the process of bringing work crews to New Orleans to help clean up member's homes. As the MidCity area becomes accessible, we will begin work on the building. The first crew from Abilene is scheduled to arrive in NO on October 3rd with group of ACU students to follow two weeks after that.
Amid all the chaos and hurt, we have seen love, compassion, sacrifice, and grace beyond understanding at work in the Carrollton church family. I look forward to getting together and hearing more of your stories. I'll try to update this section each week as things develop.
My prayers for your peace and comfort are with each of you,
Kirk
