A New Church Plant

Even as we continue to put the pieces of our lives and building back together at Carrollton, we are stepping out in faith and planting a new church in inner-city New Orleans in a neighborhood called Hollygrove.

Progress Report

The front is finished, rotted wood down the sides has replaced, and a new steeple is on its way.  Thanks to an awesome crew from Northlake Church of Christ in Atlanta the outside is painted and a dumpster of trash has been collected from under and around the building.

We still need some skilled (esp. carpenters) crews of 5-10 folks at a time to help us rebuild this summer.  Take 4 or 5 days off and come eat some shrimp while you make a difference in the lives of the people in our community.

Click Here for more details on funding, a more thorough update, some pictures, and material needs for the next step.

With only 70 members of our own, this is a big undertaking for us and we could use some assistance.  If you would like to help financially or constructionally (I know, this isn't a word) with this ministry, contact us at: Church Office   We will have our first Sunday together on August 31st.

Sadly, "We're Number 1!"

At the close of 2007 New Orleans was ranked the most deadly city in the United States on a Murder per Capita basis.  Hollygrove contributed more than its fair share to that statistic. This isn't a social programs problem, a government problem, or even a law enforcement problem.  It is a sin problem. The Church has to reclaim its voice and step up. The Christian Chronicle did a story in the February 2008 issue on Carrollton's Church Planting efforts:  Article

Celebrate!

The hose on Paul's shoulder represents the end of two years of "temporary" water supply to the hall bathroom.  Just goes to show that if one buys a quality garden hose the sky is the limit.  We celebrated its replacement with copper pipe at a recent Wednesday dinner.  Paul was awarded the old "plumbing" in recognition of a few well timed comments over the years.

Ready for More?

We are looking ahead to the next few years of being God's people in our community and see extraordinary opportunities all around us.  Do you have a heart for service but need some new challenges? Consider moving to New Orleans, finding a job in your field, and helping us rebuild Carrollton and plant new outposts in God's Kingdom.  We need passionate Christians of all ages and professions to prayerfully consider the possibility that this is where God is calling them to live and serve. New Orleans has lots of jobs and incredible ministry opportunities.

Maybe you're graduating or retiring.  You have to live somewhere.  Pray about coming here.  We're starting the conversation with you but God does the calling.  Can you hear the call?  New Orleans may be where you need to be.

Want to know more about "vocational ministry?"  If you have a Facebook account you can click here. And, we have lots more info about jobs, vocational ministry, and New Orleans here.

Our Vision:

We are a family of God's children serving our community.
